Pelvicology
For decades, women have silently suffered from pelvic pain as well as many other conditions, including various forms of trauma only to be dismissed or left without answers by the medical profession. As a pioneer, well before pelvic treatment became mainstream, in 1985 Lesley began working both inside and outside the pelvis, using Myofascial Release. With her decades of experience, her work has allowed her to develop a huge knowledge base. This has given her an uncanny ability to relieve, through advanced myofascial release techniques, a number of common, and complex female pelvic issues. Lesley has recently begun applying these techniques with neurodivergent clients, such as those with autism. In Her Own Words, "MFR Pelvicology requires a keen understanding of the fascia system. Understanding how fascia transmits signals from the pelvis to the rest of the body is all important. It also requires an open channel of communication between the therapist and the client in order to facilitate the work. The key to success requires clients must be completely comfortable with me in order for them to indicate when and where these signals (myofascial referrals) appear on their body. These signals help me understand where the fascia is entangled (and creating pain.)"
"The treatment is a partnership" she explains, "I strongly believe in providing a therapeutic space that is private, safe and confidential. I recognize the individuality of each client and personalize treatment to fit their specific needs, both physical and emotional. As a former teacher and Acute Rehabilitation nurse, I realize that an important part of my treatment process involves educating the patient regarding their specific problems. With this in mind, I give them copies of each treatment session. These handouts contain charts and notes explaining what has been done and how well the treatment is progressing. This, along with discussions regarding their progress, helps them to understand and track their recovery."
